Sunlight

Provide your Pilea with bright indirect sunlight

While your Pilea can tolerate a few hours of bright direct sunlight, too much direct sunlight will discolour & damage their leaves

Misting your Pilea Plant daily helps. Although this indoor plant can also survive in an extremely dry climate

Watering

The soil needs to dry out between watering sessions to prevent the roots from rotting. This may amount to deeply watering your Chinese Money Plant once a week in summer. Reduce the frequency in summer

Do not let your Plant get dehydrated. So water it more often in warmer, sunnier weather

Soil

Polka dot plants prefer organically rich, well-drained soil.

For these Hypoestes plants, an all-purpose organic potting mix is usually sufficient. To increase soil drainage, add some pumice or perlite.

For a nice, balanced shape, rotate your Pilea at least once a week to ensure sunlight reaches every side.

Troubleshooting

Leaves crisping - Suggests your Pilea has suffered from dry air - Try to increase humidity by misting it often, placing it near a humidifier, or using a pebble tray.

Leaves drooping - Indicates your Chinese Money Plant has been underwatered - A thorough watering should reinvigorate it. Another reason could be the plant may not be getting enough light, so place your Pilea in a bright indirect sunlight position

Pilea colour fading - Pilea leaves may turn yellow from ripe green if it hasn't been fed for a month. Enrich your Pilea with all-purpose 20-20-20 fertilizer that has been diluted to half strength, once a month.
