Watermelon Leaf Plant is low maintenance and very easy to grow, even for beginners!

This plant is perfect as a tabletop plant and can be placed on shelves or desks.

With an ability to reduce and balance formaldehyde levels, the Watermelon Peperomia is one of the best Air Purifying plants.

Your Watermelon Peperomia can grow up to a height of 4 to 7 inches at maturity.

Sunlight

Provide your Peperomia with bright indirect sunlight. Do not allow direct sunlight to hit the plant as it may damage the leaves

If your Watermelon Leaf Plant is given too much light, it's colours and patterns will fade. But if not given enough light, it's leaves may turn a darker shade of green. Hence, it is important to provide the right amount of sunlight

Watering

Your Watermelon Peperomia requires very little water. Hence, water only when the first two inches of soil are dry, or when the leaves start to droop

The soil needs to dry out between watering sessions to prevent the roots from rotting.

As tropical plants, your Watermelon Peperomia prefers a warm and extra humid environment. So if kept indoors, regularly mist or place the pot on a pebble tray.

Root rot, rotting stalks, yellowing leaves, a heavy pot and waterlogged soil are indications that you may be overwatering your Peperomia Plant

Soil

Plant your Watermelon Peperomia in average potting soil to rich loam.

Use Draining soil that contains a good amount of perlite and sand. Also, ensure the pot has holes for drainage

While Repotting, use a combination of 30% Potting Soil + 35% cocopit + 25% Organic manure / Vermicompost + 5% charcoal chips + 5% perlite

Fertilizer

As Peperomia are slow-growing, it's soil should not be kept overly fertile. This can cause excessive growth. Therefore, fertilize plants once every month (avoid during winter) using a 20-10-20 NPK houseplant fertilizer.

Your Watermelon Peperomia is non-toxic and suitable for spaces with pets and children.

Additional Care

Placing your Plant in insufficient light may result in it getting leggy. This is because it tends to stretch towards the available light

Watermelon Peperomias are prone to root rot and edema, a disease in which they take on too much water. So keep the soil well-drained.

Wilting may be caused by too little light, low temperatures or excessive watering

Leaves crisping - Suggests your Watermelon Leaf Plant has suffered from dry air. - Increase humidity around it by misting it frequently or clustering your plants

Drooping leaves - Indicates your plant has been underwatered. - A good watering will revive it. Insufficient light could also be a cause, so place the Watermelon Peperomia in bright indirect sunlight.

Leaves are going brown at tips - Indicates too much water. - Avoid watering for a couple of days
