Asplenium Nidus | Cobra Fern Plant

Cobra Fern or Asplenium Nidus are prehistoric plants that can thrive in the most extreme conditions. These beautiful, shrubby plants have long, wavy, glossy leaves that rise from a central rosette, giving it the appearance of a bird's nest. Its ability to self-reproduce, grow in low light environments, and survive harsh conditions makes it an ideal choice even for the inexperienced gardener.

General

They are an excellent

air-purifying plant.

Cobra Ferns can grow as tall as 6 to 10 inches.

They are a great addition to a

well-lit bathroom as the humidity level is perfect for your Asplenium Nidus. Cobra fern can also be kept in the kitchen near to the window.

Sunlight

Bird's nest ferns can grow in a moderate amount of shade or even in full shade. Placing your plant by an east- or north-facing window is ideal. They also do well in artificial light.

A highly humid environment such as a bathroom will be ideal for your Asplenium Nidus.

Watering

Your Asplenium Nidus requires regular watering. Water whenever the top inch of the soil starts to dry, about once a week.

Pour Water across the outside edges of your plant rather than pouring water overhead or right into the center of this plant. It helps prevent mold and rot in the dense cave. Additionally, avoid watering the fronds.

As your Asplenium Nidus thrives in a humid environment, use a humidifier, pebble tray, or mist the leaves when placed in low humidity environments.
