English Ivy makes a bright and excellent houseplant. It is an evergreen plant that can thrive in low-light and cold situations, making it an ideal choice to have as your green office companion. Its bright green leaves with a teal undertone bring a splash of the outdoors inside. Hedera Helix stay green all around the year, making it an attractive ground cover for decorative gardens or as a room ornament to add bright colour.

General

English Ivy is a vining plant that produces plenitudes of heart-shaped leaves ranging from dark to light green.

They are an evergreen plant and continues to grow throughout the year and grow up to 8 inches in height.

Your Ivy is an anti-inflammatory plant and can help in allergies situation by blocking histamines as well.

Sunlight

Ivies adapt themselves to almost any amount of light, ranging from bright sun to full shade. However, your English Ivy grows well in partial to full shade, making them one of the best indoor plants to grow.

During summers, they propagate exceptionally well in bright indirect sunlight as they are intolerant to direct sunlight. During the winters, protect them from frost and freezing temperatures.

Watering

Water the Ivy once the soil is dry to the touch to a depth of at least an inch. You can water your English Ivy twice a week.

Ivies prefer low-moderate humidity but do not allow them to stand in water for a long time as it can cause the roots to rot.

Soil

Hedera Helix is a herb and does not have any significant toxic issues. However, it can be mildly toxic if taken orally for some people. The leaves can also result in an allergic reaction for some people upon touching.

Additional Care

Your English Ivy can be affected by common pests like spider mites, aphids, or scale insects. In that case, you should remove the infected leaves and treat the plant with an insecticidal or pesticide spray.

Try to trim the wooden areas of your Ivy in winters to keep the plant healthy in the long run.
