Asparagus asparagoides, Bridal Veil creeper – Hanging Plantghtr

Smilax Asparagus is also known as Cape Simlax, Bridal Creeper, or Bridal-veil Creeper. It is a herbaceous plant that produces bright green leaf-like projections on trailing stalks. Flattened stems, not genuine leaves, form these leaf-like formations.

General

  • The Bridal Creeper can produce beautiful white blooms that are followed by brilliant red berries if given the correct growing circumstances.
  • The stems of this Asparagus plant can grow up to 5 feet long, making it excellent for a hanging basket or trellis.
  • Simlax Asparagus is a species that can be found in eastern and southern Africa.

    • Sunlight

  • Your Smilax Asparagus plant likes semi-shade over bright direct sunlight.
  • Keep your Cape Smilax plant out of direct sunlight, though, as direct sunlight causes the leaves to lose their colour and turn yellowish.

    • Watering

  • During the growing season, water your Bridal Creeper plant thoroughly while allowing the top 2 inches of soil to dry somewhat between waterings.
  • During the winter, watering should be reduced.
  • Water your Cape Smilax plant from the bottom once in a while.
